Against All Odds Empowerment Center is committed to changing the reality faced by most young mothers:
• 64% of teen mothers do not graduate from high school or receive a GED end up in poverty
• For those teen mothers that do complete a high school education, less than 2% of them earn a college degree by the age of 30
• 25% of teen mothers will have their second child within 24 months of their first pregnancy
Against All Odds Empowerment Center seeks to reverse these negative trends by offering classes that focus on parenting skills, sexual awareness and responsibility, workforce development, financial literacy, interpersonal skill building, counseling and by connecting young mothers with valuable resources.
In the future we are looking to offer transitional housing, childcare, internship and supported work opportunities, and transportation. The goal is to be proactive and set up an infrastructure to support young mothers as they deal with these critical issues. Inspiring and shaping the lives of these young women can’t be done alone, it takes a village and community involvement.
